English Students’ Perception Towards The Use Of E-Learning Iain Kediri Platform In Extensive Reading Class

Abstrak

The Coronavirus Disease has affected educational activities. The teaching and learning must be done from home through online learning. As the only state college in Kediri and as one of the colleges that support the government policy, IAIN Kediri applies e-learning platform that can be used for online learning. It uses for teaching and learning by all of the students and the lecturers as well. This study aims to find out the English students’ perception, the difficulties, and the problems solution towards the use of e-learning IAIN Kediri platform in extensive reading class. This study used survey research design in analyzing and describing the data. It was collected through a close-ended questionnaire and interview. The researcher used SPSS to analyze the data of questionnaires. There were 65 of fourth semester English students in extensive reading class participated in this study. The study found the English students have a good perception towards the use of e-learning IAIN Kediri platform in extensive reading class with total mean 3.11. The students enjoy because most of them have understood or familiar to use this platform. It was presented the mean 3.02. It also makes them enjoyed because the ease of its features. It was presented the mean 3.30. They also feel more independent in learning extensive reading. It was presented the mean 3.00. Unfortunately, the English students still face some difficulties as like unstable server, bad internet connection, and ineffectiveness in learning. To overcomes those difficulties, the problems solution are reporting to the lecturer and waiting until the e-learning could be accessed, looking for a WiFi or a place that facilitates an adequate internet connection, and discussing with the friends then asking to the lecturer.
