Students’ Perception On The Use Of Youtube In Learning Speaking Skill Of The Eleventh Grade At Sman 1 Papar

Abstrak

Speaking is one of the important skill of learning English. It is called productive skill. Speaking is a communication tool used by someone to express opinions, thoughts, or feelings to others. Many students are still afraid when they are asked to speak English. They are afraid of making mistake and have less confidence in their speaking ability. During pandemic, learning speaking is conducted online. SMAN 1 Papar provided Youtube to teach English speaking skill. When using this application, there is positive or negative response from the students. Therefore, this study aimed to investigate the students’ pereption on the use of youtube in learning speaking of the eleventh grade at SMAN 1 Papar. This study used survey research design. It was conducted in SMAN 1 Papar. The participant was the eleventh grade students in the academic year of 2020/2021 that consists of 316 students. For the sample, it took 30% of the students which are 97 students. The instrument is close-ended questionnaire. The finding of the study shows that in perceived of usefullness sub dimension, there are 71% of the students have positive perception. In perceived ease of use sub dimension, there are 75% of the students have positive perception. In confidence sub dimension, there are 69% of the students have positive perception. In freedom of choice and control sub dimension, there are 75% of the students have positive perception. In motivation sub dimension, there are 71% of the students have positive perception. It can be concluded that the students’ perception on the use of youtube in learning speaking of the eleventh grade at SMAN 1 Papar is high. Most of the students are agree with the implementation of youtube in learning speaking
