Challenges And Strategies On The Teaching Of English Speaking In Sman 1 Kediri Using E-Learning During Covid- 19 Pandemic Era
Abstrak
In teaching English speaking by using E-learning, the English teacher has challenges. That happens because of many factors, one of them is E-learning problems. This problem has a lot of influence on students learning process. The teachers are demanded to be creative by choosing appropriate strategies. Teachers strategies will help students speaking mastery. From these statements, the researcher analyzed the challenges faced and the strategies used by English teachers on the teaching speaking in SMAN 1 Kediri. The objectives of this research were to find out the challenges faced and the strategies employed by the teachers in the process of teaching speaking in SMAN 1 Kediri using E-Learning academic year of 2020/2021. The design of this research was a descriptive gualitative research. The subjects of this research were English teachers who teach in X, XI, and XII grades of SMAN 1 Kediri. There were 3 English teachers as partiipants. The data of this research were collected by guestionnaire and supported by interview. The collected data were: coding, data reduction, data display, and drawing conclusion. Then, to point out the trustworthiness of the data, this research used methodological triagulation. The result of this research showed that the challenges faced by English teachers were: lack of vocabulary mastery, lack of grammar skill, lack of pronunciation skill, inhibition, nothing to say, low or uneven participation, mother- tongue use, teacher”s feedback, and E-learning problems. For the strategies implemented by English teachers were: role-play, opinion/idea, prepare scripts, dialogue, monologue, guiz and reward, video, teacher”s feedback, and teacher”s role.
