The Correlation Between Reading Strategies And Reading Comprehension Achievement Of The Twelfth Grade Students Of SMK Plus Darus Salam Kediri
Abstrak
Reading strategies are actions consciously performed for the purpose of achieving a particular reading task or goal, which can be used in various ways according to context and learner. Every students has a different strategies to understand some text. The objective of this study is the researcher wants to know the correlation between reading strategies and reading comprehension achievement. This study uses correlational quantitative research as the research design. The participant of the research is 79 students of twelfth grade in SMK Darus Salam Kediri. There are two instruments in this study those are reading test and questionnaires. For reading test, the researcher adopts from TOEFL for Junior. And for questionnaire the researcher adapts from Survey of Reading Strategies (SORS) by Mokhtari and Reichard (2002). Data obtained are analyses using the Statistical Program for Social Science (SPSS) using Pearson Product-moment correlation analysis. The result of the study shown that there is correlation between reading strategy and reading comprehension with the coefficient correlation is 0.793 which is categorized in high correlation with significance value is 0.00 which is lower than 0.05. It means that Ha is accepted.
