Teaching Challenges And Strategies Faced By Rural Area English Teachers During Covid-19 Pandemic

Abstrak

In order to examine the English teachers challenges and sgrategies especially the interaction, the researcher takes data from SMP Negeri 1 Wonodadi, Blitar. The instruments used were observation and interview from two teachers in SMP Negeri 1 Wonodadi. The result of this research is the most challenging problems that the English teachers face in rural area during teaching in pandemic situation is they cannot fulfil their role as manager, followed by the second challenge namely their role as director. The third challenge js English teachers cannot fulfil their role as facilitator. Unfortunately, teachers still cannot find the approproate strategies for those challenges. The last challenge is related to their role as resource. In fact, they are always be ready if their students xome to them to ask questions or when students need a help, but their students hardly ever come to them.
