Abstrak

ABSTRACT Lusianingrum, Maya, 2021, Speech Acts Analysis On Kamala Harris‘ Speech About History of Victory., English Department, Faculty of Education at IAIN Kediri, Advisor: Fathor Rasyid, M.Pd., Nurul Aini, M.Pd. Keywords: Speech, Speech Act, History of Victory Speech act is a part of verbal communications. The words speech acts are from two words those are speech and act. Speech is the utterance from the speaker and act means the action. There are three types of speech acts. These are locutionary, illocutionary and perlocutionary. This research aims to analyze the types of speech acts and the function of speech act in speech from Vice President of United Stated of America Kamala Harris about History of Victory. The researcher uses descriptive qualitative method to describe and analyze the selected of speech acts which are taken from the script, then classifies them by using John R. Searle‘s concept of types speech acts. The finding of this research shows there are 52 utterances. There are 93% of declarative and 3% of imperative in locutionary acts. Then in illocutionary, there are four types in this speech: 63% of Representative/Assertive, 4% of Directive, 6% of Commisive and 27% of Expressive. While in perlocutionary the most dominant is the hearer is impressed.
