Novel is kind of work that is written in a form of narrative story in order to entertain the reader. There are so many stories from the novel that can be used as an experience for the reader and scenes from the characters in the novel that can convey their role well so that they can have various impacts on the reader. Therefore, the researcher made a research by taking from a story that came from a novel entitled The Fault In Our Stars By John Green. The researcher took the research from the novel because she was interested in the story from the novel which tells the story of two teenagers who are both struggling in facing a cancer. The story in the The Fault In Our Stars novel shows the influence and support of Augustus Waters to Hazel Grace in facing cancer. Influence is defined as change in an individuals thoughts, feelings, attitudes, or behaviors that results from interaction with another individual or a group. While, support as the physical and psychological comfort is provided by the individual friends and family. The researcher used descriptive qualitative method in doing this research. The researcher used descriptive qualitative method because described the characters of Hazel Grace and Augustus Waters to find out how the character of Augustus Waters could influence and support Hazel Grace who had felt pessimistic when facing cancer. The researcher reading the novel in doing this research and collects the data through documentation toward a novel then comes up with a theory to account the data. After that, the researcher looks for the hypothesis or theories which can explain the data collection. The last point is the researcher as the key instrument in this research. The result of this research, there are 23 data in the form of dialogue quotes from the contents of the novel entitled The Fault in Our Stars by John Green. In the novel The Fault in Our Stars by John Green tells the story about a man names Augustus Waters and a woman names Hazel Grace who are facing cancer. The researcher took the data to proved and explained that Augustus Waters could give influence and support to Hazel Grace in facing the cancer.
