Speech acts is the study of intended meaning of the utterances speakers or writers made. There are three types of speech acts, that are locutionary, illocutionary, and perlocutionary acts. This study focused on illocutionary acts which have five of types such as directive, expressive, representative, commissive, and declarative. The theory of illocutionary acts can be applied into media entertainment for example, in a movie. This study examined to figure out the types of illocutionary acts in Now You See Me movie that uttered by all characters and the dominant types appeareds in the movie. The data in this study was analyzed following John R. Searle’s (1976) theory. This study is conducted by using descriptive qualitative method. The data were derived from the movie script of Now You See Me by downloading on the internet. There are three steps to analyze the data. The first step is classifying the utterances into the directive, representative, expressive, commissive, and declarative types. Then, describing all the utterances of illocutionary acts that used by the characters in the movie. The last step is concluding the data findings and giving suggestions.The result shows that there are 65 utterances of illocutionary acts. There are 37 utterances or 56,9% that is categorized into directive type, 10 utterances or 15,4% that is categorized into representative, 8 utterances or 12,3% that is categorized into expressive type, 8 utterances or 12,3% that is categorized into commissive, and 2 utterances or 3,1% of declarative. It can be concluded that directive is the most dominant used by the characters in Now You See Me movie.
