Key words: Improving, Writing Skill, Flipped Classroom Many students at SMAN 1 Grogol get difficulties in writing recount text especially students in the tenth grade students because students lack of knowledge in using correct grammar, they cannot understand the material, they lack of vocabularies and they do not know how to make a good sentence. English teacher of SMAN 1 Grogol still use traditional method to teach writing. So it could the students bored in the class because the method is monotonous and make the students are passive. The objectives of this research is to improve students’ writing skill by using flipped classroom at the tenth grade students of SMA Negeri 1 Grogol. To implement this research, the researcher uses Classroom Action Research by implemented flipped classroom method. The data is collected through the use of an observation checklist and test. It makes the repeating of the cycle to achieve the result of the research. The process of planning, implementing, observing and reflecting. The result of this research reveal there are two cycles. Before the reseacher applying flipped classroom method, the research took preliminary test to identify the information of students’ problems in writing. In preliminary test percentages of students who passed the test the result of the test 25% and 75% of the students did not pass the test. This research is successful when 80% of students get score at least 76. In cylce I showed that the students achieve the progress, 44% students passed the test and 56% students did not pass the test. In cycle II, the students get achieve the progress, the 84% of the students passed the test and 16% students did not pass the test. Beside that, the students get more active, more enjoyable, they can explore their idea and knowledge. The teaching and learning process becomes efficient. It can be concluded that teaching writing by implementing flipped classroom method can improve students writing skill.
