English is global communication and is used by people for communication and sharing everything ease with in developing technology. By communicating people can share everything and be able to express something there. In addition, instagram is sharing online photos that users can share their daily lives in photo or video form with their comments. The caption used by instagram users to take a description or picture or video posted by the user on instagram is in written form. Caption can be written in many languages. To get meaning the information made by verified accounts must correlate to the context of the photos or videos they post. In the content, the purpose of the research study is to communicate the function of Instagram caption in language and to identity the caption based on the speech act particularly in illocutionary act. This research is a descriptive qualitative method. By analyzing caption on Instagram through verified account instagram. There are sixteen verified accounts. The researcher used the sheet data collection, or the table in Instagram caption. The steps of data analysis in this research were as follows: The data from the caption in Instagram were identified, The data were classified based on the research of the problems, The data were analyzed, grouped into their own types and transfered into data sheets, The researcher described and interpreted the data in order to answer the research of the problems, and During the process of analysis, the researcher applied the trusworthiness of the data and analyzed the data to gain the results of the research. Triangulation in this reseach using more than one method to collect data on the same topic. The result of the study show there is five types of speech act are that 16 (41%) data belong to expressive act, 6 (15%) data belong to directive act, 2 (5%) data belong to assertive act, 1 (3%) data belong to Commissive act, and 14 (36%) data belong to representative act. Therefore, the total of the whole data found in Instagram caption are 39 data (100%). In addition, we can conclude that he dominant classification of illocutionary act in Instagram caption in expressive act.
