Gender equality is a problem that is underestimated in society. In fact, there are still many people who do not know what gender equality is. This lack of knowledge is what makes them reluctant to participate. The purpose of this study is to create a novel as media that can introduce gender equality which can also be used as a medium for learning to read for students. This research uses research and development methods to create and analyze the created product. The process in this study uses the instruction from the Borg and Gall model which has been adjusted according to research needs. In general Borg and Gall model are; research and information collective; planning; develop primary form of product; preliminary field; main product revision; main field testing; operational product revision; operational field testing; final product revision; and implementation. To analyze the results of the study, the researcher used the theory of fiction assessment from Nugiyantoro. The finding from the research shows that the product has been successfully created according to the Borg and Gall method. The method is implemented well so that it is able to create a quality product and get a good assessment from the validator. Based on the validators assessment, the results of the study are in accordance with the theory of fiction assessment and are appropriate for introducing gender equality in society. The novel is said to be successful because it contains the terms and conditions that exist in the theory of fiction study, both semiotic and structural. Semiotics the product has used language that is in accordance with the applicable linguistic rules where this can be seen from the results of the table that get perfect scores. In the structural section, the novel has also met the standards in the study of fiction where the product also gets a pretty good score according to the standards that have been determined. The value of the research is obtained from the opinion of the validator in filling out the questionnaire which is then calculated by the researcher in order to obtain the research results.
