Speech ACTS Analysis On King Charles Iiis First Speech As King Of England And The Commonwealth Countries
Abstrak
Speech acts are the conscious meaning of studying from the speaker or writer of the utterances. When we produce the utterances, automatically we produce both the form and the intention in our mind of saying our utterances. The aim of this research is to identify the utterances particularized speech acts and illocutionary functions on King Charles IIls First Speech as King of England and The Commonwealth Countries. The researcher uses descriptive qualitative design to gain the research. The writer collects the data from the video content on YouTube namely Washington Post entitled King Charles IIs First Speech as Monarch. The speech transcripts are from website namely Rev. King Charles IIIs is the first son of Queen Elizabeth Il and Prince Phillip.The finding of this research shows there are 43 utterances. This research focuses on the illocutionary acts. Thus, there are four types of illocutionary acts in this speech: representative, commisive, expressive, and declaration. The most dominant type of illocutionary acts is assertive or representative. Meanwhile stating is the most dominant function of assertive or representative illocutionary.
