Key Words: Writing skill, EFL Class, Implementation, Diary writing English as a world language is used for conversation, strengthens and maintains relations between all nations. One of them is in the field of education. In EFL class, writing is one of the mandatory skills that must be possessed by students. in this class, the most of students are not interested to write in EFL Class. Because they feel confused with grammar when the English teacher asked to create a text. Then, the English teacher implementing the diary writing method in English Foreign Language (EFL) Class, because writing a diary is an easy individual job and it is suitable to be given to the students. With diary writing students can freely express their emotions and their feeling also they can share about their daily activity there without thinking about grammar. so, writing a diary can be a good exercise to implementing in this study case. This research was conducted using a qualitative case study method. The subjects of this study were teacher and 10 students of XI Grade of MAN 5 Jakarta. This school was chosen because, based on pre-observations by interviewing English teacher at the school, the researcher found a relevant problem for the thesis title, so the researcher chose the school as a research place. And the researcher chose this class because the class met the expected criteria in the study. Qualitative data were obtained through interviews, observation and documentation. Data were analyzed by reducing data, presenting data, and drawing conclusions. The results are shown by the teachers and students perceptions of diary writing. First, from the English teacher’s perceptions the diary writing method is easy, fun, and helpful for students. Because, before implementing the diary writing, students may find it difficult to write because their vocabulary is limited. However, after carrying out the Diary Writing activities students can write and compose sentences, express thoughts, and express emotions becomes easier. Second from the student’s perceptions by using a diary they are free to express their emotions through writing, besides that they also think that by writing a diary their writing skills are growing and the vocabulary they know is increasing so they are more confident in speaking English. Based on the perceptions of teacher and students above, it can be said that the Diary Writing Method can improve students writing skills, vocabulary, and English confidence by helping them find new vocabulary and improve their writing ability.
