Analysis Of Character Education In English Textbooks For 10th Grade Of Senior High School
Abstrak
National Education System No. 20/2003 chapter 3 has stated the function of national education is to develop ability and built character in order to create an intelligible national life. Textbook in EFL are not only a guide for teachers in delivering material, but also provide the necessary input to the students’ attitude and performance towards the material (Ayu & Inderawati, 2018). Thus, the objectives of this research are: (1) to identify the character education values on the Pancasila student profile that appear in the texts, sentences, and images of two English Textbooks entitled “Bahasa Inggris: Work in Progress” published by Kemendikbud and “Pathway to English for SMA/MA Grade X Phase E” published by private publisher; (2) to analyze how the character education expressed in the texts, sentences, and images in the two English textbooks; and (3) to compare the character education values between the two English textbooks.
