Keywords: English Idiom, Translation, Narrative Text This thesis aims to find out the students’ perceived in translating English idiom in narrative text. The data is interviews to be analyzed. This research used descriptive qualitative method in analyzing and describing the students’ perceived in translating English idiom that are used narrative text. The researcher analyzed the data using qualitative method then following some steps, first was collecting the data, second was identifying the data, the third was analyzing the data, the fourth was describing the data, and the last was drawing the conclusion. Based on the analysis, the researcher found 3 problems in translating English idioms in narrative text that contains data of translating English idiom in figurative meaning and literal meaning to translating English idioms, using techniques of Mc. Arthur and Mona Baker to analyzed the data. From the analysis, there are 3 problems faced in translating English Idioms in narrative text idioms are difficult choosing correct meaning, sometimes translating word to word, and unfamiliar with English idioms. From the data, the results are there are 4 students still translating English idioms in literal meaning because the students difficult to choosing correct meaning and 3 students sometimes translating English idioms by word to word, and 3 students are unfamiliar with idioms because the teacher never explain about idiom. The students not using techniques when translating English idioms. Only used dictionary on website, discussions with the other friends, sometimes using Google Translate to help them to translate English idioms.
