The Correlation Between The Intensity Of Watching English YouTube Videos And Students’ Listening Skill
Abstrak
Listening is one of the language skills that plays an important role in daily communication and language learning. But there are still many learners who have some difficulties in learning listening. The aim of this study was to find the correlation between the intensity of watching English YouTube videos and students’ listening skill. This study used quantitative approach with correlation design. The questionnaire and test were used to collect the data. The questionnaire consisted of 12 items to measure students intensity of watching English YouTube videos. The test consisted of 26 questions to measure students listening skill. The respondents of this study were 128 students at the 11th grade of SMAN 1 Nganjuk. This study used Spearman’s Rank formula with SPSS 25.0 to analyze the data. The result showed that the correlation coefficient between the two variables was 0.993 with the significance of 0.000. It means that there was a positive correlation between the two variables with a high correlation. From the data calculation, we decided that the alternative hypothesis (Ha) was accepted and the null hypothesis (Ho) was rejected since there was a positive correlation between the intensity of watching English YouTube videos and the students listening skill.
