Many students at SMPN 4 KEDIRI feel bored in learning reading comprehension in texts, especially students in grade eight, the lazy learning factor that makes students lose enthusiasm is the monotonous learning activities which make students quickly feel bored. There is no more curiosity that makes students enthusiastic about learning. Teaching reading comprehension can be taught by using media so that learning is more interesting and fun. The objective of this study is to investigate the effectiveness of using Quizizz as a Web-Based Learning Media in Reading Comprehension Learning on recount texts at SMPN 4 Kota Kediri. This study used a quasi-experimental research design. Class VIII-J and class VIII-K were used as research samples based on the considerations given by the school. The sample VIII K as the experimental group consisted of 34 students and the sample for class VIII J as the control class consisted of 34 students. This research used pre-test and post-test to collect data. Non-parametric test is used to analyze the data. The data analysis used the Mann Whitney non-parametric test in SPPS to test the hypothesis because the data was not normally distributed. The alternative hypothesis is accepted because the groups significant value is 0.000 <0.05. Quizizz is effective for teaching recount text with a large effect size adopted from the Cohen standard (0.8 ≤ 0.84 ≤ 2.0). According to the findings of this study, the researcher concluded that Quizizz is an effective media for teaching recount text. It is also suggested that teachers can apply Quizizz as a learning media so that students are interested.
