Reading comprehension is the ability to read a text and process understanding its meaning. The main goal of reading activities is to understand the reading content of a text. Reading comprehension is an activity that involves understanding the meaning of words, phrases, and paragraphs as well as the relationship among concepts. Students academic achievement is dependent on their reading abilities. Many students had difficulty with their reading comprehension abilities. The purpose of this study was to know the students difficulties in reading comprehension descriptive text. This research uses Descriptive Qualitative method. The subject of this research was class 8E students at SMPN 1 Ngadiluwih, consisting of 32 students. The data was collected through a reading test in the form of multiple choices of twenty- five questions. To analyze the data, the researcher used the formula for students’ mean scores and percentages of right and wrong answers. Then, interview to know more the students’ difficulties in reading comprehension Descriptive Text.
