In this disruptive era, it is effortless to become a fallen victim of hoaxes, misleading information, and logical fallacies due to an inability to understand the context and main idea of the text. Therefore, it is crucial to improve reading habituation and training, mainly in understanding the context of the text. Moreover, there is an integration of teaching media with the enhancement of technology, which supports and provides a lot of benefits for the teaching and learning process. This research was aimed at exploring the impact of Readtheory.org web-based AI on students’ reading skills and its perceived impact on their learning autonomy at MAN 2 Mojokerto. This study deployed an equal-status sequential mixed method to dig deeper into the topic being discussed. The quantitative research deployed quasi-experimental research with a reading test and Readtheory.org as the treatment. Followed by qualitative research with interviews and direct observation in the field. The sample for the research consisted of students in eleventh grade, consisting of 34 students in each class, XI-A1 as experimental and XI-A2 as control. The quantitative data analysis began with tests of normality and homogeneity variances and continued with hypothesis testing using SPSS. The qualitative data analysis relied on thematic analysis using NVivo to reveal the themes in the data. The quantitative results revealed a significant difference in reading abilities between Readtheory.org users and those with printed books, with a significance of 0.001 < 0.05 through the Mann-Whitney U test. Emphasized with the results of effect size calculations resulted in 0.563, which showed the medium effect of Readtheory.org on students’ reading skills. The qualitative results revealed several themes that indicate that the platform enhanced vocabulary, language skills, and autonomy. However, challenges such as user vocabulary limitations, user readiness, and infrastructure constraints require strategic solutions for effective ICT integration in education, especially for creating differentiated learning models. Reflecting on this studys outcomes, future exploration could involve a longitudinal study assessing Readtheory.orgs enduring impact on EFL students reading proficiency and autonomous learning.
