The Effectiveness Of Two Stay Two Stray Method On Students Reading Comprehension At MTs Al-Amien

A Thesis, English Department, Faculty of Tarbiyah, State Islamic Institute (IAIN) of Kediri, Advisors (1) Erna Nurkholida, M.Pd and (2) Mohammad Muhyidin, M.Pd. Keywords : Two Stay Two Stray Method, Reading Comprehension. Reading comprehension is an ability to analyze text, understand meaning, and incorporate pre-existing knowledge. The aims of this research was to find out the effectiveness of Two Stay Two Stray method on students’ reading comprehension of 8th grade at MTs Al-Amien. This research methodology used a quasi-experimental design. The population of this research was the eight grade students of MTs Al-Amien. The subject of this research are class eight-A as control class and eight-B as a experimental class in teaching narrative text. Each class consist of 30 students. The procedures of the research were Pre-test, Treatment, and Post-test. The researcher used an instrument to collected the data by given Pre-test and Posttest. Then all the data analyzed with independent sample T-test. The researcher found that the average score from control class was 37.00(pre-test) and 43.00(post-test). The average score for experimental was 51.00(pre-test) and 73.33(post-test). From the data analysis using independent sample T-test, the results of sig.(2-tailed) was 0.000 < α=0.05 (5%). Ha was accepted while h0 is rejected. It can be concluded that Two Stay Two Stray method is effective on students’ reading comprehension of 8th grade at mts al-amien
