Keywords: Perception, YouTube, English as a foreign language The increasingly rapid development of internet technology has an impact on the increasing variety of learning media in the field of education. One of the internet-based learning media that is often used by teachers for teaching is YouTube. The aim of this research was to determine students’ perceptions on the use of YouTube in learning English. This research was conducted by using mixed method. The data were collected through questionnaires for quantitative and interviews for qualitative. The questionnaires consist of fifteen questions which are divided into four aspects; attractiveness aspect, effectiveness aspect, relevance aspect, and motivation aspect. The subject in this research were thirty students in second-grade of MTsN 4 Nganjuk who was taught by the teacher using YouTube. The finding of this research shows that the students have positive perception on the use of YouTube in teaching and learning English. They claimed that using YouTube helps them easily understand their English lessons and makes learning more engaging. The students also get various benefits after learning English through YouTube because it has many functions. It is very easy to use. They can utilize it from any location, therefore, ensure their comfort. The use of YouTube can motivate the students to be more interested in teaching and learning process.
