Phatic communion is phenomenon in daily conversation while the people meet each other and start their conversation. It’s kind of ritual word which always used by the people to break the silence or to avoid an awkward moment. Many people use phatic communion to handle the situation or establish pleasant atmosphere. This study aims to know phatic communion in the movie and also how the characters do employ phatic communication. The forms of phatic communion in this research divided into 4 forms which are ritual words that are exchanged when people meet, standard topic of conversation, supportive chat between friends, and meaningless or misunderstood words. The researcher finds many data but only 8 data selected from the conversation taken. From the data has been taken, researcher start to classified and find how people employ the phatic communication. The result of this study shows that phatic communication has some implication in maintaining relationship in family, friends, or some new people that has never been met before in every classification. Which mean the phatic communication is very important for the people if they want to get some information according to the characters in the movie. The characters get anything he wants caused employ this phatic communication. In conclusion, the phatic communion is very important for many people to maintain the relationship between two people or more. To employ the phatic communion we have to know some of the phatic communication uses by the people.
