Abstrak

Students use a story pyramid strategy to comprehend the elements in a text by analyzing the main character, the setting, the events, also the solution to the problem. The writer believes that the story pyramid strategy is useful for enhancing the students reading comprehension of recount text. The story pyramid strategy facilitates students to understand books or passages easier. This research is a quantitative study that employs an experimental design. This experiment used a quasi-experimental method with two experimental and control groups. The quasi experimental method employs group assignments but not a random selection of individuals. The writer chooses 8th grade of MTs Al-Hidayah for the sample. The result of statistical computation of ANCOVA reveals that the result is significant (0.000) < α (0.05). Since the significant value is lower than 0.05 statically there is enough evidence to reject null hypothesis, then the alternative hypothesis is received. It means that teaching reading skill using Story Pyramid is effective. Keywords : Implementing, Story pyramid, Reading comprehension.
